Chelsea defender confirms preferred departure

Alex would prefer a move to Brazil but has not ruled out EuropeChelsea defender Alex has claimed he would be willing to take a huge pay cut in his quest to leave Europe suggesting only something special would tempt him to remain.

The Brazilian handed in a transfer request and has not featured for Andre Villas Boas’ side since late November where defeat to Liverpool saw Chelsea crash out of the Carling Cup.

Whilst looking for a move to his native Brazil there are other teams – most notably in Italy – that are keen on his signature but the player admits that it would take a good offer to tempt him into not returning to his homeland.

“I knew when I asked for a transfer I wouldn’t get the same salary in Brazil as I get at Chelsea. It will be hard to even come close. The Brazilian league is very good. Unless something special comes along I’ll go home.”

Alex has been linked with a move to Juventus as part of a deal that would see Milos Krasic head to West London.
