Chelsea facing Italian competition for top striker

Higuain remains of interest to both Chelsea and AC MilanChelsea FC will face Serie A giants AC Milan for the signature of Real Madrid target Gonzalo Higuain with the Stamford Bridge club believed to be readying a £40m bid.

AC Milan though are now in need of a top rated striker and feel Higuain ticks all the boxes as they look for a replacement for Cassano. The Italian side are still somewhat hopeful of landing Arsenal’s Robin van Persie but should the Dutchman sign a new extended contract then they will focus their attentions fully on Gonzalo Higuain.

There is also still no guarantee that Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho will let the Argentinian striker depart the club at any stage as he continues to assemble a squad that can cope both in the domestic league La Liga, and makde a strong impact in the Champions League.

Chelsea are still keen to add another striker to their squad with Lukaku expected to be heading out on loan, and Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka to be leaving West London within the next six months.
