Chelsea FC making discreet enquiries for Manchester City star

Sources close to Chelsea football club have claimed that the Stamford Bridge side are making discreet enquiries regarding the availability of Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.

It remains somewhat of a mystery regarding Tevez’s future with the 27 year old suggesting he will not be returning to Manchester City and also complaining about home sickness with many reports claiming he would prefer a move back to Argentina, however Chelsea are of the opinion that he may just need a change of scenery and are hoping he may be tempted with a move to London.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has plenty of transfer targets in mind but wants Turkey manager Guus Hiddink in charge before confirming any mega money deals although it has been revealed the Dutchman has been advising on potential targets already. Manchester City have been reported as saying that they will not accept less than £50m for the Argentine and although that figure would easily be within Chelsea’s reach Abramovich will want to know whether Hiddink would like Tevez on board before getting out the cheque book.

Manchester City do seem resigned to losing the striker however they will not allow him to leave cheaply, Tevez is Eastland’s top goal scorer as well as their current captain so any clubs looking to prise him away will need to offer a big upfront fee. With Chelsea making enquiries regarding his availability and Real Madrid also reported to be interested, his next club will depend on whether Tevez wants to leave the Premiership and play football in La Liga.

Chelsea will also know that Carlos Tevez is somewhat of a lose cannon, making his feelings clear whenever he gets the opportunity and the West London club will not want to splash out £50m only for Tevez to get into a mood mid season when he is left out for Torres or Drogba. The striker has made numerous outbursts this season within the dressing room and any new manager would not like to have to deal with that at a new club.
