Chelsea FC have made enquiries into the availability of Turkey’s left sided attacking midfielder Arda Turan who currently plays for Turkish giants Galatasaray.
The Stamford Bridge club are keen to recruit more attacking options with the current Chelsea squad beginning to age and it is also considered to be a back up move should their tabled offer for Neymar be rejected. Although Turan is not Brazilian he is a player of top quality, having played for the international side since 2006 and spending his whole career with Galatasaray with just one loan period during the 2005/2006 season.
Capped 44 times by his country and with 11 international goals to his name, Turan was also voted as the most popular European footballer for 2009. Whilst his popularity status will not concern Chelsea fans, his ability on the left flank will and even if Chelsea do complete a move for Neymar, having the 24 year old on your side is better than having to play against him.
Whilst these are initially just enquiries by the Chelsea hierarchy it seems the club have set their standards high and with a view to adding attacking talent rather than others with defensive qualities. A transfer fee of £16m for Turan is claimed to be a good guide for the international.
