Chelsea FC reject €30m bid for Brazilian defender

Chelsea FC have reject an offer from Barcelona worth €30m for Brazilian defender David Luiz although it appears the defender could be keen on a move to the Nou Camp himself.

The 24 year old only joined in January under Carlo Ancelotti from Portuguese side Benfica and the Spanish giants see Luiz as the perfect long term replacement for Carlos Puyol. Abramovich and Chelsea have other plans though and will not sell their up and coming defender after just six months on the payroll, instead, look to build the next generation of Chelsea’s defence around him.

Barcelona are also unlikely to increase their bid of €30m and still have other transfer battles on their hands with the likes of Alexis Sanchez with whom they are in competition for with Manchester United and Manchester City, and of course there is the small matter of Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas.

Chelsea are by no means a selling and club and show only sell or use players as part exchange should they feel it best for the club. The Stamford Bridge side have simply rejected the offer but must now wait to see if Luiz instigates a move away so soon after joining.

Very much like the Modric situation, should Luiz go public on a possible desire to join Barcelona then Chelsea may look to sell and move on.
