Chelsea FC target three top internationals

Gregory van der Wiel it top priority for Chelsea where a right-back is concernedChelsea FC have set their sights on bringing three internationals to Stamford Bridge in light of Tottenham Hotspur’s hardball approach regarding Luka Modric.

First on their list of targets is that of wing-back Alvaro Pereira for whom the side have reportedly already bid close to £17m for and is considered a replacement for Zhirkov who left the club recently.

Chelsea are however still in need of a specialist right-back and have earmarked Netherlands international Gregory van der Wiel as the main man for that position. van der Wiel is currently happy playing for Ajax though and would look to seek assurances that he will be involved in first team matters from the off. Whilst only enquiries have been ongoing for the last year a bid is expected by the end of the transfer window which is set to close in seven days time.

The third and perhaps main target of the summer is now that of Joao Moutinho who Andre Villas Boas rates very highly and would prefer to invest less in the services of the Portugal international that risk breaking the bank to land Croatian Luka Modric who could be on the verge of signing a new contract extension at White Hart Lane.

Bringing Moutinho to Stamford Bridge will not be easy but with Chelsea having little choice after looking to lose out on Modric and having already lost out on Javier Pastore to PSG, a hefty bid for the 24 year old playmaker is expected shortly.
