Chelsea FC to push ahead for wing-back
Chelsea FC are ready to push ahead in their pursuit of Benfica wing-back Fábio Coentrão whether Ashley Cole decides to stay on at Stamford Bridge or leave for Spain.
There has been speculation with regards to Cole wanting to start a new life in Spain with his partner and talks between the player and manager are pending. However, Chelsea do not wish to lose out on the 23 year old and are already planning a move for the Portugal international.
They will of course face competition from Real Madrid for whom Coentrao has already admitted to favouring although it is believed that should Chelsea show more interest in him that the Spanish giants then the former Rio Ave defender may choose to come to London instead.
He will not come cheap either with prices staring around for £20m but Abramovich would rather have both Cole and Coentrao rather than get caught with his trousers down losing both left footer’s to his old manager Jose Mourinho.
