Chelsea FC to unveil Andre Villas Boas this week

With most speculation regarding Chelsea’s new manager targeted primarily at Turkey manager Guus Hiddink over the last month it may have come as surprise to most that Andre Villas Boas of Porto will be unveiled as the new Chelsea manager this week.

The 33 year old is considered hot property and is also considered as the next Jose Mourinho in the making. He spent most of his managerial and coaching career under the former Chelsea manager and with news filtering through that Hiddink will not break his terms with the Turkish Football Federation, Abramovich is more than happy to pay the €15m release clause in Villas-Boas’ contract to hire him as the next man in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Hiddink has never failed to break a contract and it looks as though that is set to continue with the Dutchman informing the Chelsea owner of his intentions. The position of technical director though will be his should he choose to take it once his time as Turkey manager is up, perhaps creating a formidable dream team of Hiddink and Villas-Boas.

Abramovich was told by Hiddink on Saturday that he would not break his current agreement with the TFF which has led the Russian into urgent action by contacting Porto to pay the €15m required to released the young manager. With Villa-Boas to be unveiled this week, Chelsea will have not only a manager in place but the foundations of something one can only really remember when Jose Mourinho first joined, and it is believed there will be a fresh transfer list given to Abramovich as Villas-Boas looks to take Chelsea to the top of the Premiership tree.
