Chelsea turn attentions to Jovetic after Hulk holdup.

Chelsea are reportedly set to ditch their pursuit of Porto striker Hulk turn their attentions to Stevan Jovetic according to a Footy Bunker source.

The Blues have run into complications trying to complete a deal for the Brazilian international with agent fees, percentage fees and a final transfer fee yet to be agreed on.

After initially being quoted £38 million by Porto the fee looks set to increase to £42 million after it emerged mega-rich French side Paris Saint Germain are set to launch a bid.

With that in mind owner Roman Abramovich has now reportedly instructed manager Roberto Di Matteo to focus on signing Fiorentina hit man Jovetic to fill the void left by Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou.

After seeing a £20 million bid turned down by the Viola earlier this month it’s rumoured that the European Champions are now closing in on a deal for the Montenegro striker after matching the £25m valuation.

It’s thought the 22-year-old has a release clause in his contract that would be activated by Chelsea’s improved bid and now looks odds-on to leave Serie A despite interest from Juventus and Napoli.

Di Matteo is keen to bolster his attacking options with Fernando Torres, Daniel Sturridge and Romelu Lukaku set to battle it out for a place in his starting eleven next season.

The Italian was also rumoured to be keeping tabs on Edinson Cavani but have been warned by Napoli that the Uruguayan striker isn’t for sale at any price.
