Chelsea keeper Cech aiming to keep United at bay

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is confident that he can help Chelsea to a victory over title rivals Manchester United today, despite high-scoring United’s brilliant start to the season.

United have already netted 18 goals this season in just four Premier League games and Cech is well aware of the attacking talent that United have at their disposal:

“They will try to play their game, we will try to play ours and we will see what comes up at the end,” said the experienced keeper. “We know they have been playing really well in their attacking play and scored a lot of goals, they have people up front on fire but that’s the way it is.”

The 29–year-old continued:

“We are improving every game we play and are solid at the back and can win games. We go there with a positive mood and will do our best to get the result we want. Everybody is talking about what the Manchester teams are doing but we are two points behind and if we go there we will close the gap and stay top.”

He added that although Wayne Rooney would be under particularly close watch, remaining organised defensively was the key to getting the result they desire:

“When you use a player with the confidence and ability of Wayne Rooney, he can do what he likes. I will have to be on my best to keep him at bay but it is not only about me, it is about the whole team and if we defend well as a team then we have a chance to have a good result”
