Chelsea could be ready to mount a third bid in their continuing efforts to sign Tottenham star, Luka Modric.
New boss, Andre Villas-Boas, has been in the hunt for a creative midfielder all summer, with the aging Frank Lampard and injured Michael Essien both a factor in his plans.
Chelsea have already had two bids rejected for the Croatian with the last bid understood to be £27m. The Blues are now ready to increase that offer to £30m.
Tottenham are reported to value Modric at £40m but have stamped a not-for-sale sign on the 25 year-old on several occasions.
Villas-Boas is also thought to be interested in Real Madrid midfielder, Kaka, after reports surfaced that the Spanish club would be willing to sell the Brazilian.
