After having a £17m bid rejected earlier in the month, Andre Villas-Boas’ Chelsea have returned to Anderlecht with an improved £20m offer for the up-and-coming star.
A number of other Premier League clubs including Liverpool and Tottenham are also interested in the 18 year-old, who has recently been dubbed ‘the next Didier Drogba’.
Lukaku has netted 39 goals in his last two seasons with the Belgian outfit, and Chelsea are thought to see the forward as an eventual frontline replacement for Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka who could be on their way out of the London club.
Chelsea are also suspected to be winning the race to sign Palermo’s Javier Pastore, despite the Italian club reportedly accepting a £39m bid from Ligue 1 side, PSG.
