Chelsea FC are preparing an audacious bid for AC Milan star Pato this January in the hope that they may be able to tempt the Serie A side into selling.
The 22 year old Brazilian has been made available by the club due to ongoing injury issues and with Carlos Tevez believed to be on his way to Italy, the club will need the cash. Due to injury concerns though Pato will not fetch as much as Milan would have liked and for Chelsea it could represent a younger option and perhaps cheaper option, that Tottenham Hotspur’s Luka Modric.
A midfield playmaker has been required at Chelsea for some time with the sort of quality that Pato possesses and Roman Abramovich would surely be more that happy to get out the cheque book and sign him up. When Pato does play he can either play as an attacking midfielder or even in a striker role where, when fit, he will cause all teams constant problems.
For a player that was supposed to be the long term replacement for Kaki it appears AC Milan can no longer risk keeping such a star on the treatment table every few weeks and although it would be a risk for Chelsea to contemplate Pato, the advantages of keeping him fit would far outweigh any negatives.
