Chelsea readying offer for Chilean starlet

Latest reports are suggesting that Chelsea are set to act on their long-standing interest in South American youngster Igor Lichnovsky with a January bid.

The Universidad de Chile defender has been on the radar of the West London club since last summer and would become a part of the youthful dynasty that Andre Villas Boas is hoping to build at Stamford Bridge.

Inter Milan are also known to hold an interest in Lichnovsky and will pose a particular challenge in Chelsea’s hopes of signing the centre-back.

The youth has impressed greatly over the past year and both Inter and Chelsea have supposedly sent scouts to watch the player in action for his Chilean club.

Lichnovsky is also an international for Chile’s Under-17 side having earned his first call-up to the team in 2011.

The youth rose up through his nation’s academy, also featuring for Chile’s Under-15 squad since 2009.

It’s unknown at this point how much it would cost to bring Lichnovsky to the Premier League but if sources are to believed, the 17 year-old could cost as little as £700,000.
