Chelsea FC are set for a bidding war against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich over the next six months for Argentine starlet Lucas Ocampos who will turn 18 next July.
The young winger is already being hailed as the next best product to come out of Argentina since Maradona and Lionel Messi and could cost the either Chelsea or Bayern Munich close to £15m. Ocampos currently plays for River Plate who were for the first time in their history relegated last season.
At six foot two and still growing he is somewhat of a giant for someone who plays out wide with many claiming he could be as good as Cristiano Ronaldo due to his ability on the ball and goal scoring skills. Both Bayern Munich and Chelsea have been watching the player closely over the last few months and although a deal in January is unlikely, there remains a possibility that either club could purchase the player at this time then allow Ocampos to remain in Argentina for a further season to mature.
Chelsea’s Premiership rivals Liverpool were also interested in the youngster however feel that the current asking price is a little out of their reach for someone so young.
