Chelsea look ready to stamp their intent on the Premier League title by making two big name signings in the form of Luka Modric and Juan Mata.
The London based club have been chasing Tottenham midfielder, Modric, for the majority of the summer, seeing two bids rejected in the process, with the latest offer reported to be worth £27m.
Andre Villas-Boas is also reported to be keen on hijacking Arsenal’s bid for Valencia winger, Juan Mata, and is thought to be preparing a bid nearer to Spurs’ £35m valuation for the Croatian playaker.
The Chelsea maanger commented on the likelihood of his new club signing Modric, saying: “The only thing I can say is just that it can happen. I don’t know to what extent we can go regarding his price because we are speaking about a high amount and nothing else, basically. End of story.”
The Blues have just completed the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Anderlecht, and are yet to make any big money moves this summer.
