Chelsea star admits Manchester United deserved quarter final win

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has admitted that Manchester United were the better team over the two legs in the Champions League quarter finals and that Chelsea got what they deserved.

In what was a tense tie between the Premiership giants, Chelsea were undone in both legs although claims of a penalty in the first match at Stamford Bridge may still frustrate the fans.

“Obviously we were all very disappointed in the changing room, but that’s life. We didn’t deserve much more. We lost the two games in the quarter-final and that proves Manchester was just better than us and deserved qualification.”

The Chelsea keeper continued.

“We have regrets because we played two matches that were quite interesting. We had opportunities in the first half and sometimes we even played very well. Then, being down to 10 men, it was very complex at Old Trafford, even if we did equalise. Then, we thought about scoring another goal too quickly rather than defending.”

The Champions League exit means Chelsea will be hard pushed for any silverware this season with their only chance still only in the Premiership but with Manchester United’s lead over the West London outfit now at 11 points despite a game in hand, the chances are slim to say the least.
