Chelsea wonderkid Romelu Lukaku has admitted that he is eager to seal a loan move next season if he does not get more first-team opportunities.
The Belgium striker has featured just seven times since his move from Anderlecht in August, despite being rated as one of Europe’s hottest prospects.
The 18-year-old sits fourth in line to a first-team place, with Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba and Daniel Sturridge all ahead of Lukaku. Therefore a temporary transfer elsewhere could become the better option for the player so he is able to develop.
Lukaku is currently unable to join another club this season as he is has already featured for two clubs this season, however has admitted he is planning to discuss his future with Villas-Boas.
“If my situation at Chelsea does not evolve between now and the end of the season, it may be better to be loaned out for a season,” the 18-year-old is quoted as saying by the Belga news agency.
“A loan this season is not possible, as I have already played for two different clubs (but) if this situation endures, it might be better to play for another club for a year and then come back.
“But let’s see what happens in the next six months. Many things could still change.”
