Chelsea starlet set sights on Euro spot

Chelsea forward, Romelu Lukaku, is adamant on forcing his way into the Blues’ Champions League plans after he made his full debut against Fulham in Wednesday’s Carling Cup victory.

The teenage Belgian international completed an £18m move in the summer transfer window, and made it clear that he had no intentions of being loaned out in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

Andre Villas Boas left the 18 year-old out of his 25-man squad for the Champions League group stages but is hoping to force his way into his plans for the knockout phase.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, the youngster said: “It is up to me to play well and then hopefully get in the next squad when it is named in January.”

He added: “It is my main objective and it is realistic because in these four months I can show what I can do and improve.”
