Information from Italy is claiming that Chelsea are in the driving seat for Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez despite big interest from Manchester City.
It was reported at the weekend that the Eastland’s side were preparing a large transfer fee for the Chilean winger suggesting that money would play the more important role in where his next club is likely to be however reports claim that Chelsea are in contact with the players agent and that Chelsea are looking to gazump City in a last minute offer for the 22 year old.
Abramovich has seen his Chelsea side trophyless for this season and although the Premiership title is still a possibility, it remains a long shot and the Russian billionaire wants to invest in more younger players over the summer, having become fed up with City snatching numerous targets off Chelsea over the last two years.
A bidding war for Sanchez is likely with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool being outmuscled, however with a Champions League position not yet a certainty for Manchester City, Chelsea may be the preferred option for the Chilean who remains a player many top European clubs have on their summer wish list.
