Chelsea FC are preparing one final bid of £35m for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric but will not look to pay anything more than that.
The West London club have already had two bids rejected by Tottenham chief Daniel Levy for £22m and £27m respectively however they believe their third bid could tempt Harry Redknapp into making a sale with the 64 year old keen on raising cash quickly so he can make some summer signings to boost the attack.
With it proving difficult for Redknapp to sell the likes of Robbie Keane, Niko Kranjcar and Wilson Palacios at this time, a tabled offer of £35m could be tempting, especially seeing as the Croatian does seem to want to join Chelsea. If Redknapp were to accept the offer though it would seem to fans that the club will go back on their word and sell if the price is right.
Redknapp and Levy have said from the very start that Modric is not for sale and anything other than keeping him at White Hart Lane this season could prove to be the nail in a possible Champions League qualifying coffin.
