Reports from West London have claimed that Chelsea are to push forward in their bid for Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Toni Kroos.
The attacking midfielder was linked with a move to Chelsea last summer but reluctance from Bayern to sell the 21 year old saw the move fizzle out. However Abramovich is keen to add to the ageing squad with Frank Lampard almost a shadow of his past and feel that Kroos would make a perfect understudy.
Described as an attacking midfielder, Kroos can also play on the wing and with Munich still stuttering in the Bundesliga rumours suggest they may be willing to sell the youngster if the price is right. Kroos first made an impact at the 2010 World Cup coming on as a substitute and of course for Bayern’s Champions League campaign last year.
With the loss of Michael Ballack and Joe Cole during last summer, and with no immediate replacements, it seems Chelsea will use this next transfer window to replace them in the hope of mounting a more serious challenge for silverware next season.
