The players cannot be at all complacent at Stamford Bridge though as they will know that Sparta are sure to come out and attack and if the European Champions aren’t at the races, they could be punished.

Rafael Benitez knows just how important reaching the final stages of the Europa League is and in truth, he probably needs to win this compeition along with the FA Cup to have any chance of keeping his job at the Bridge on a permanent basis.

Chelsea fans might feel as though they have had a poor season so far, but few could be disappointed if they were to do another double this campaign.

The first leg saw the Londoners put in a very professional performance and they broke the deadlock with just eight minutes to go through an excellent goal from Brazilian youngster Oscar.

When looking at the two squads on paper, Chelsea should have far too much quality for their opponents here and if someone like Frank Lampard can take control of the game in the middle of the park, it should be a straight forward evening for the home team.

With the form than Lampard is in, he looks like decent value at 8/5 to score at anytime on Thursday evening.

The Blues have not lost at Stamford Bridge in their last nine European matches, so they have made their home soil somewhat of a fortress over the last couple of years. Unsurprisingly, they are the big favourites at 7/20 to come out on top on the night in this one.

Sparta Prague come to England with a lot of work to do, but they are not out of the tie just yet and if they can start the game quickly and get on the score-sheet in the opening stages, they do have a chance here.

The Czech team have now gone four matches without a win in this compeition and in that time, they have only found the net on two occasions, something which is sure to be a bit of a concern.

They knew that two legs against the Champions of Europe were never going to be easy and the odds are stacked against them coming into this one. You can back Sparta at 9/1 to qualify for the last 16 of the competition.

The visiting side can almost come into this one with the pressure off them though as nothing is expected of them. They will see that Chelsea have struggled on home soil in the Premier League over recent weeks, dropping points to the likes of Queens Park Rangers and Southampton, and that should give them some confidence for Thursday’s match.

It should be a very interesting 90 minutes of action from Stamford Bridge. Kick-off for this one is at 8.05PM.
