Chelsea manager, Andre Villas-Boas, is weighing up his options after having a player-plus-cash deal rejected by Liverpool for their Portuguese midfielder, Raul Meireles.
The deal was thought to be worth an initial payment of £8m with Yossi Benayoun also moving back to Anfield.
However, sources suggest that Villas-Boas is still in the hunt to sign his fellow countryman, and could return to Liverpool with an improved offer.
The Chelsea manager also already has the advantage of previously working with Meireles at Porto, before he completed his £11.5m switch to England last summer.
