Sources at Stamford Bridge have claimed that Chelsea FC will look to offer star striker Didier Drogba to Tottenham Hotspur if it means landing attacking midfielder Luka Modric.
The deal, which will be cash plus Drogba is certainly something the White Hart lane outfit will consider although there is also talk that Chelsea’s manager to be would prefer to keep the clubs top goal scorer and refrain from moving for Modric, instead going for Porto midfielder João Moutinho.
The 24 year old played for Porto under Villas-Boas and is highly rated by the 33 year old manager and it seems he would be a good addition to the squad without the need to allow Drogba to move to North London.
However Chelsea do not want to spend more money on Modric and would prefer to allow one of their elder players a switch, Tottenham though want a top class player and will not settle for anything less that Drogba at this stage. Should Spurs remain stubborn enough then Chelsea will look to Porto, however Redknapp will have an unhappy player on his hands and may feel that the Ivorian striker could be the right man to drive them back into the top four.
