Chelsea will turn to Moutinho mid August
Chelsea will leave it up to Modric to decide how he wishes to continue with regards to a move to Stamford Bridge and will give the Tottenham midfielder until mid August to make his decision.
Should Modric not arrive in West London by that time then Chelsea will focus their full attention to Porto playmaker Moutinho of whom Villas-Boas is a big fan however the club will not be prepared to pay his release clause, rumoured to be around £34m and both manager and owner Roman Abramovich will look to negotiate the release of the player for about £6m less than Porto’s valuation.
Having already reportedly bid £27m for Luka Modric it could be assumed that Chelsea value Moutinho slightly more than the playmaker with Premiership experience – that’s football.
