Latest Cheltenham Festival tips with the World Hurdle, Ryanair Chase, Jewson Novices & Pertemps as punters eye the latest tips on the horse racing from Prestbury Park.
St Patrick’s Day at the Cheltenham Festival always turns into a day to remember for a variety of reasons – but we’re hoping the reason this year is based around punters making a substantial profit and once again making the bookies squirm.
We have given the card a good going over and found a couple of bets for punters to hopefully take advantage of.

Our focus from a profit making point of view is on the Ryanair Chase, due to the fact there are eight runners taking their chance over the intermediate distance.
This means the each-way terms for this race are perfect for punters and at their worst for the bookies. The rules of horse racing say the any races with eight or less runners have to see bookmakers pay the first three past the post – if it does drop down to seven runners, then they only pay the first two, so keep an eye for any non-runners.
These conditions make a lumpy each way bet on our fancy Cue Card a very good way of making sure we get the best value from our betting. The Colin Tizzard chaser can be backed with a best priced 4/1 with Paddy Power, and as they are promising to pay 1/4 each-way terms, this looks a bet to go in hard with.
Cue Card brings some very strong form lines into the race and as long he runs to his best, there is nothing to suggest he won’t finish out of the first three.
A £10EW bet with Paddy Power at 4/1 would return £70 if the Tizzard chaser runs out the victor, but you can have the insurance that if he gets pipped and finishes second or third, you will get your full stake back due to the each-way terms.
Put simply, as long as he finishes in the first three you can’t lose.
The World Hurdle is the feature race of the day and we think Oscar Whisky can put the doubts about his stamina to bed to run out the winner for trainer Nicky Henderson. He can be backed at 4/1 with Paddy Power.
A major disappointment in last year’s World Hurdle, when he went off at 4/1 against Big Buck’s, Henderson revealed that he was never himself in that race last season and ran below par. Some analysts think he just didn’t stay that day, but by the way he stuck to the task in the Cleeve Hurdle behind Reve De Sivola on heavy ground surely put those doubts to bed.
Expect him to see him travelling best of the field with two to run, and under the in-form Barry Geraghty, he can produce him to unleash his turn of foot to out-gun his rivals, all of whom lack that little bit of class.
There are two big handicaps to get stuck into today, with the Pertemps Final run over a gruelling three miles and the Byrne Group Plate over the fences.
Some big ante-post bets could be landed in the Pertemps if Sam Winner justifies the faith in him shown by Paul Nicholls at recent Cheltenham preview nights.
But the 4/1 with Bet365 makes no appeal at all, and we are going to take him on with the AP McCoy ridden Shutthefrontdoor. The champion jockey hasn’t ridden a winner yet this week and will be chomping at the bit to get on the score sheet – this horse has the perfect make up to break that duck.
The Byrne Group Plate looks far simpler. Back Ballynagour to land the spoils for David Pipe, who looks well handicapped despite a huge rise in the weights at 4/1 with William Hill.
