Fiorentina’s sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has confirmed that they have rejected a bid for Alessio Cerci from Manchester City.
City’s Italian manager Roberto Mancini publically admitted last week that they were considering a deal for Cerci as he still looks to add to his squad, as City remain hopeful over the Champions League and a potential title challenge.
Cerci enjoyed a good campaign last season and has emerged as one of the hottest wingers in Europe, scoring seven goals in 24 Serie A appereances for Fiorentina since his move from Roma last summer. Corvino insists that’s the Viola have turned down an offer for their playmaker from City.
“The only offer we have received is that of Manchester City for Cerci but the proposal didn’t satisfy us,” said Corvino.
“Cerci is an important player for us. He didn’t ask to leave and we have no plans to sell off our players.”
