City, PSG and Juventus all vying for Van Persie

Manchester City, Barcelona and Paris St Germain will battle it out for the signature of Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie this summer The Sun reports.

The Holland forward is odds on to leave the Gunners before the new Premier League campaign starts in August after revealing he won’t be extending his contract due to disagreements over the clubs future direction.

With just 12-months left left on his current deal Arsene Wenger will want to sell the 28-year-old now instead of losing him for nothing next year with his potential suitors ready to open the bidding process.

City are reportedly set to test the waters with a £15 million offer as Roberto Mancini hunts a new forward and views Van Persie as the man who can fire his side to Champions League glory next season.

Mancini is reluctant to pay more than £20m for a player who has suffered his fair share of long-term injuries during his eight-years in North London opening the door for Barcelona.

The Catalan giants are also unwilling to meet Arsenal’s minimal valuation for the striker, who scored 37 times last term, but there have been suggestions that they will throw Spain international David Villa in to sweeten the deal.

Mega rich PSG are also hunting a proven frontman and Carlo Ancelotti believes Van Persie can provide the goals to propel his side to the Ligue 1 title after they narrowly lost out to Montpellier.

They’d be willing to pay more than the going rate to secure his signature although it’s thought the Dutchman would prefer a switch to City or Barca as they’re already well established at the top of their respective leagues.

Meanwhile, Marouane Chamakh is poised to leave the Emirates Stadium with Fiorentina said to be weighing up a £4m bid for the Moroccan striker who’s out of favour at Arsenal.

He struck just 12 goals in 63 since signing on a free transfer from Bordeaux two years ago falling way down the pecking order last season.
