The FA has confirmed that Tom Cleverley has earned his first England call-up following the withdrawals of Jack Wilshere and Michael Carrick.
The Manchester United midfielder will be a part of the squad which plays Holland in a friendly match on Wednesday.
Cleverley had an impressive second-half against Manchester City in Sunday’s Community Shield victory, and is earning praise as a possible Paul Scholes replacement.
The 21 year-old has impressed in past seasons on loan at Leicester, Watford and most recently, Wigan Athletic.
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Inter star, Wesley Sneijder, but some are speculating whether the Dutchman is needed with a youngster like Cleverley in the ranks.
