Crock midfielder set for Manchester City

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves is believed to be on the brink of joining local rivals Manchester City on a free transfer.

Hargreaves suffered a series of injuries during his four years at United, which resulted in the midfielder being released by the club upon the expiry of his contract.

It was thought that he was set for a move to West Bromwich Albion after they offered him a contract, also several other clubs declared their interest including former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson’s Leicester City.

The defensive minded player moved to Old Trafford from Bayern Munich in 2007 in a deal worth around £17million. Hargreaves is yet to decide on a move to the Baggies and has also been offered a chance to play at Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.
But it now looks likely that the 30-year-old will join Roberto Mancini’s City after he was pictured leaving Bridgewater hospital following a three-hour medical.

Mancini looks to be after a defensive midfielder as it was revealed that Mark Van Bommel turned down a move to Eastlands from AC Milan.

The England international is ready to fill the void for Manchester City as they prepare to compete in the UEFA Champions League for the first time. He also believes that he is ready to play 40 games this season and aims to force his way into Fabio Capello’s plans for Euro 2012.
