are just three weeks away from the play-offs taking place, so it is a massive night for some players to take a big step towards London’s 02 Arena or keep their hopes of making the final four alive.
The first encounter sees Phil Taylor lock horns with Adrian Lewis and the former is desperate for a result here as he sits in fourth place, just two points clear of Robert Thornton in fifth, who has a game-in-hand.
Lewis is bottom of the table at the moment and only has pride to play for, so with the pressure off, he could be decent value at 5/1.
Taylor needs a big night in Birmingham as he plays two matches in total, with the second being against Simon Whitlock
If the Power comes out on top, then many will be backing him to finish in the top four, whereas Whitlock can keep his slim hopes of finish in the play-off spots alive with a victory.
Unsurprisingly, the world-number one is the 1/2 favourite to come out on top here.
Whitlock also locks horns with Michael van Gerwen, who tops to table and if four points clear of James Wade in second place at the moment.
Van Gerwen is playing some of the best darts of his career and he comes into this one full of confidence after a 7-4 win over Raymond van Barneveld.
The Dutchman wants to keep building momentum and can be backed at 1/2 to win this one.
It is safe to say Whitlock is in for a very tough evening.
Robert Thornton needs to produce two big performances in his matches against Andy Hamilton and Adrian Lewis on Thursday night.
As mentioned, he is two points behind Taylor, but does have a game-in-hand and if the Power drops points this week, the Scotsman can move into the top four with two victories.
It is going to be tough though as Hamilton is just a single point behind Thornton at the moment, so still has plenty to play for and is a 2/1 shot to win this one.
Thornton v Lewis is set to be a cracking encounter as the former is desperate for a result, whereas the latter can be one of the best players in the world on his day.
The final game to look at is a battle between the two men in second and third respectively as James Wade takes on Raymond van Barneveld in what should be an excellent match.
Wade is currently just a point clear of Barney and whichever player can win this one takes a massive step towards the play-offs, whereas the loser might be looking over their shoulder somewhat.
However, they played out a draw earlier in the season and more of the same is at 46/13, which could be a decent bet.
We are all set for an entertaining night in Birmingham.
