Davies apologises to Cleverley for damaging tackle

Kevin Davies has apologised to Tom Cleverley for the tackle he made on the midfielder in Saturday’s game, which has left the 22 year-old with ligament damage in his foot.

The Bolton captain mistimed the tackle in the fifth minute of the match and, as a result, the Manchester United starlet looks likely to be out for around four weeks.

The youngster would have been handed another England call-up against Montenegro in the country’s Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, however will miss that fixture now.

Davies wife alerted the public that the Trotters veteran had apologised, tweeting: “For all the ill-informed haters… Kevin spoke to Tom Cleverley on the phone. He would never intentionally hurt anyone.”
