Chelsea are expected to complete a deal for Racing Genk youngster Kevin De Bruyne as early as January and may even keep the 20 year old midfielder onboard without loaning him back.
It was believed that the youngster would be a Chelsea player over the summer however there were certain and numerous complications meaning de Bruyne would have to wait for his chance to become a Premiership player. An initial bid from the Stamford Bridge club – believed to be around £5m-£6m was rejected by the Belgian club, somewhat angering de Bruyne in the process however Genk are now willing to accept the player wishes to move on and shall the move to go through as soon as the window re-opens.
Although there seems very little chance that de Bruyne would want to return to Genk on loan, Chelsea may look to loan him elsewhere in the Premiership for some much needed experience at that level before reassessing his position next summer.
Although it is reported that a £6m bid had already been rejected, it is believed that Genk will not be looking for a drastically increased offer for the 20 year old.
