Derby County and Leicester City will both be looking to re-ignite their play-off pushes this week when they go head to head in a local derby at Pride Park on Thursday evening.
Both teams are 11 points adrift of the top six at the moment, but if they can put a run together between now and the end of the season, anything could happen. There is normally one team that sneaks in from afar, after all.
There is no getting away from the fact that Derby have been in poor form though.
After a fantastic start to the campaign – Nigel Clough’s men won their first four Championship games – they have been in a slump ever since.

County are without a win in their last five Championship games, with three of these ending in defeat. They have also only managed two goals in their last five outings, with both of these coming during the 3-2 defeat at Barnsley last month.
Quite simply, they need something to boost their morale and indeed their season and they will be hoping a home game against rivals Leicester provides the platform to do just that.
Nigel Pearson’s Leicester side are a dangerous outfit though, as they proved at the weekend when they secured a 2-1 victory away at Premier League Norwich City in the FA Cup fifth round.
Their league form has been far too hit and miss though and this is why they are down in 13th position going into Thursday night’s clash with Derby. They have won just three of their last 12 Championship games, losing five times in this sequence.
It’s been four defeats out of six on the road too, so Pearson’s men really do need to show more consistency if they are to mount an unlikely play-off push in the remainder of the campaign.
Overall, this is a massive game for both teams. Defeat for either side and any remaining play-off ambitions may be banished, as well as local pride being damaged.
The atmosphere will be excellent though and it should be a thoroughly entertaining contest in front of the Sky Sports cameras when it gets underway at 7.45pm on Thursday evening.
