Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund look to regain ground on top two with victory in Braunschweig

dortmundBorussia Dortmund are 3/10 favourites to beat Eintracht Braunschweig as they look to stay in title fight whilst Bayern look to make Eintracht Frankfurt the latest victims of their unbeaten streak.

Borussia Dortmund have not enjoyed the best of seasons this year and the title contenders will need to get a win against Eintracht Braunschweig on Friday night if they are to remain in contention.

After picking up a much needed point last weekend, Dortmund moved back into the top three albeit nearly twenty points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

The bad news for Jurgen Klopp continues after it emerged that club captain Jakub Blaszczykowski will be out for the rest of the season after tearing his ACL last weekend joining a high-profile long term injury list.

In his absence, Sebastian Kehl is expected to move into midfield whilst Marco Reus and Henrikh Mkhitaryan move into an offensive top three.

It’ll certainly be difficult for Braunschweig who currently sit at the bottom of the table although a couple of good results has seen them move to within two points of nearest opponents Nuremberg.

After being sent off in last week’s draw against Hoffenheim, the hosts will be without midfielder Timo Perthel for what Friday night’s fixture.

However, new striker Havard Nielsen is likely to feature once again for Braunschweig after making an impressive debut as the clubs returned from the winter break.

Elsewhere this weekend, Bayern will be out to add more concern for their rivals by beating Eintracht Frankfurt at the Allianz Arena on Sunday afternoon.

After disposing of Stuttgart in mid-week, Bayern were able to move thirteen points clear at the top of the top of the table taking their unbeaten streak to 18 games this season.

The defending champions are likely to stick with the same team that appeared on Wednesday and all eyes will be on
Thiago Alcantara as they look to see whether the Spaniard can score a second wondergoal within a week.

They take on a Frankfurt side who are hovering just above the relegation zone as the visitors have just two points separating them from the bottom three.

Eintracht will no doubt be hoping that their young strike partnership of Vaclav Kadlec and Joselu will finally click into gear having just score 7 goals between them since the start of the season.

With the season now in its second half, teams such as Borussia Dortmund know that they must pick up victories if they are going to have any chance of stopping Bayern from claiming a second straight crown.
