Burnley manager, Eddie Howe, says he is on the lookout for a new striker after Martin Paterson suffered a thigh injury on the weekend, the same injury that limited him to only 14 appearances for Burnley last season.
Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire, Howe noted: “We are working very hard, we know who we want and we’ve just got to try and get them. We are light on numbers and we are down to just two recognised strikers.”
Howe went on to say: “At this stage of the season to be a little bit thin on the ground isn’t ideal because we need to pick up results straight away. Its something we are looking to do and do quickly.”
Paterson has been ruled out of Norther Ireland’s game against Faroe Islands this weekend also.
Jay Rodriguez and Charlie Austin are the only strikers available for Burnley’s Carling Cup tie against Burton Albion tonight at Turf Moor.
