England manager calls on superstar striker to improve
It’s understood that Fabio Capello is demanding that record-breaking striker, Andy Carroll, shows more focus amongst concerns regarding how the forward spends his personal time.
The January transfer window saw Carroll become the most expensive English player in history after a £35m transfer to Liverpool, but has not hit the heights that were expected of him.
The 22 year-old has taken longer than expected to fully overcome a knee injury, but the Italian boss is also frustrated at images of the former Newcastle star holidaying abroad and having a good time at the Glastonbury festival.
The England manager said: “I chose 25 players and decided that the first 11 would be the players who were, for me, in the best form.”
He added: “Andy didn’t start the last game with Liverpool and probably he is not at the top. Also he is big. He needs to play games, games, games. It’s the start of the season.”
The international boss is a firm believer in an altogether cleaner state of living, noting: “When you play with the England national team, at every moment you are the focus of the fans, the newspapers, the photographers, the people that live around him. He needs t o improve, to drink less.”
