England v Norway odds, free bets – England at 6/1? Punters eye value

Latest England v Norway odds and free bets as Paddy Power report they are boosting the price on an England handicap win to 6/1 from 3/1 for punters tonight.

England host Norway in their first international since a disappointing 2014 World Cup campaign in what should be a comfortable victory for Roy Hodgeson’s men.

Defeats to Italy and Uruguay saw England eliminated at the group stage of the tournament and they ended up without a win.

Since then the likes of Frank Lampard and captain Steven Gerrard have retired from international duty.

Wayne Rooney has been handed the captaincy by Roy Hodgson as the average age of the England squad continues to decrease.

Hodgson surprised many by calling up the likes of Jack Colback and Fabian Delph for the friendly and subsequent 2016 European Championship qualifier with Switzerland.

As for visiting Norway, they could include 15-year-old midfielder Martin Odegaard, who has been linked with a switch to Manchester United, within their starting line-up.

England have won six of the 11 previous meetings between the two nations, including the most recent, a 1-0 Euro 2012 pre-tournament friendly.

Team news
John Stones could be set to partner Gary Cahill in the heart of England’s defence, with Phil Jagielka to miss out.

Phil Jones will start from right-back, with Glen Johnson out through injury, with Leighton Baines to be deployed from left-back.

Jordan Henderson and Jack Wilshere look set to play in central midfield, with Gerrard and Lampard no longer part of the squad.

Both the new captain Rooney and Daniel Sturridge will start, with Raheem Sterling likely to play from a wide position.

As for Norway they have a few faces who play or used to play in the English game, including the former Arsenal defender Havard Nordtveit.

Vegard Forren signed for Southampton in 2013 however didn’t feature once, whilst Mats Moller Daehli has impressed for Cardiff since moving.

England: Hart; Baines, Cahill, Stones, Jones; Henderson, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sterling; Sturridge, Rooney

Norway: Jarstein; Hogli, Forren, Nordtveit, Elabdellaoui; Samuelsen, Jenssen, Odegaard, Daehli; Elyounoussi, Kamara
