Euro 2012 Group B Betting Odds

Euro 2012 is just round the corner and all eyes are now on who will be successful in Poland and Ukraine this summer, as we look at the latest betting odds from Group B, which sees three giants of European football, Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands meet. Who will progress?

Group B looks to the group that has the most quality and will be extremely difficult to progress from, as bookmakers make the Germans the overall favourites to win the group.

Starting with Germany, they are second favourites to win the tournament outright but know they will have to be at their best to make it through to the knockout stages, as they are a best price 6/5 with Paddy Power to win Group B outright.

Latest Group B Betting (best price available)

  • Germany 6/5 with Paddy Power
  • Netherlands 2/1 with Bet365
  • Portugal 9/2 with William Hill
  • Denmark 20/1 with Ladbrokes

The Germans won all of their games during qualifying so are in fantastic form going into the competition. After an impressive young side two years ago, they are sure to be a stronger outfit this time out with more experience and in manager Joachim Loew, they have a charistmatic and dynamic manager.

Ably assisted by Real Madrid’s Mesut Ozil, Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller locking the midfield and free scoring Mario Gomez leading the line they should definitely make it the latter stages of the tournament, and rightly justify their position as 6/5 favourites.

Moving onto Holland, on their day there are not many better teams to watch as they play incredible attacking football.

Major tournaments have not held happy memories for the Dutch though and they will be looking to use the disappointment of losing the World Cup final in 2010 as inspiration this summer. Of course they have the attacking talents of Arjen Robben, Rafael van der Vaart, Wesley Sneijder, Dirk Kuyt, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie.

Bert van Marwijk has plenty of options and if he can keep the side together and playing as a unit, there is no better team in world football which can boast that attacking line up.

At 2/1 to win the group with Bet365 they could be well worth a punt.

The next side to look at our Portugal. Despite having an extremely talented squad, they have failed to really gel as a team and needed a play-off to qualify for Euro 2012.

In Cristiano Ronaldo they do have one of the world best players at their disposal and will be looking to play in a way that suits him. With them not being tipped to progress by many, Portugal may relish playing with the pressure slightly off them.

The final to focus on is Denmark, who will know that it is going to be an incredibly tough task to finish in the top two of Group B.

The Danes did finish above Portugal in qualifying though so are certainly not be taken lightly. Denmark are another side who could flourish with expectations being fairly low.

It is sure to be a fantastic contest in this group with all sides hopeful of making it to the knockout stages.
