Europa League Group K: Tottenham look to finish with 100% record in group stages with a win against Anzhi

spursTottenham are considered overwhelming 1/4 favourites by Paddy Power to beat Anzhi and finish with a 100% record in Group K.

Tottenham’s form may fluctuate in the Premier League but Spurs will look to continue their scintillating run in Group K with a win against Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.

Spurs have won all five games in the group so far and a win could see them become the only side to win all six of their group games in the entire competition.

With nothing left to play for, Andre Vilas-Boas is likely to field a heavily changed side as he looks to rest some of his top stars meaning that the likes of Brad Friedel and Ezekiel Fryers could come into the squad.

There is also likely to be a starting place for Jermain Defoe as he looks to continue his fine scoring form in Europe and sit on top of the scoring charts at the end of the group stages.

Anzhi have put their woeful domestic form aside this season in Europe and have scraped through some difficult games to also progress to the last 32.

However, the cash-strapped side are going to have to rely on their usual squad to get the job done as boss Gadzhi Gadzhiyev is unable to field too many adequate replacements.

Spurs will face a familiar foe upfront in Djibiril Cisse as the Frenchman returns to London for the first time since QPR were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.

Although there isn’t anything on the line, some people will shift their focus to Moldova where Sheriff and Tromso will duke it out to see who finishes bottom of the group.

At the moment, Norwegian side Tromso sit bottom having just achieved one draw in the entire competition but a win could send them above Sheriff who have also yet to win in the group.

Sheriff will certainly be the more confident going into the game carrying a good defensive record that has seen the Moldovan champions concede just twice at home in the competition.

Meanwhile, Tromso will be keen to end their European goal drought which has seen them fail to score in their last 3 games in Group K.

With everything virtually settled in the group, Tottenham will look to safely get through the game against Anzhi and pick up a win that will raise confidence levels around White Hart Lane ahead of the busy Christmas period.
