David Moyes’ Everton are considering a January loan move for Schalke 04 midfielder Lewis Holtby who is currently on loan with Main 05.
The 21 year old youngster had been linked with a permanent move to Goodison Park over the summer but a lack of cash in the Everton coffers meant nothing could be done to take enquiries further. A loan deal though is still a big possibility for the Merseyside outfit unless they decide to cash in on one of their top players.
It had remained a possibility that one of Phil Jagielka, Fellaini or Jack Rodwell would be sold in the summer to raise cash however Moyes decided to stick to his guns and bring more youngster through from the youth ranks. There also appears to be heavy interest in their latest young midfielder Ross Berkley who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford and Chelsea.
Schalke have loaned Holtby out since 2010 and although he remains one for the future, they are willing to loan him out abroad if they feel it will help his development. Whilst Everton could prefer to organise a loan then possible permanent deal it remains unlikely whilst they do not have the funds.
Holtby has made over sixty league appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring eight goals during that time.
