Everton are considering a summer move for Espanyol’s somewhat diplomatic winger José María Callejón. The 24 year old has been at the La Liga club since 2008 and it has been suggested that his versatility where attacking options are concerned is the reason that David Moyes sees the talented flyer as a good option.
Whilst Callejón is not made of goals, scoring only eight in over seventy appearances, he does have the ability to beat defenders by simply crossing the ball in early. His vision from set pieces are also thought to be a great asset to him.
Should Everton be serious enough to bid for the former Real Madrid youth then it would see another solid addition and perhaps one could say a player that will compliment the likes of Cahill who seems to be able to float a few seconds longer than most and of course Callejón’s countryman, Mikel Arteta.
Having been described as “diplomatic” in the past, the Spaniard is not shy when it comes to his workload and with the forward not yet part of the Spanish first team set up, would prove to be one of those players that you know will be around after international breaks.
It is believed that a figure of around £4m would be enough to prize Callejón away from the La Liga side.
