Everton manager lauds skipper attitude

Everton boss, David Moyes, has heaped praise on club captain, Phil Neville, after the midfielder’s reaction to being left out of the squad in the early matches of the season.

The skipper didn’t feature against Aston Villa or Wigan Athletic, but Moyes says that his reaction has been magnificent, putting all his energy into helping those who are starting, as well as concentrating on getting himself back into the starting line-up.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the Scot commented on the future of the 34 year-old playmaker, saying: “Phil will always play for me and his attitude was spot on. He was rallying the troops in the dressing room, encouraging them. He was probably the loudest in the dressing room.”

He added: “But he knows his opportunity will come again and he’ll be the first to acknowledge that Tony Hibbert has played well in a couple of games. Good players know their time will come and what they have to do when they get there.”
