Everton FC are planning a double swoop should Arsenal be successful in their approach for Phil Jagielka by immediately making Scott Dann their ideal defensive replacement and will also look to boost their attacking options by making a bid for Tottenham Hostpur forward Jermain Defoe.
Arsenal are considering an increased offer for the Everton centre-back and could use forward Nicklas Bendtner as part exchange. Should a fee between the clubs be agreed then Everton will look to replace Jagielka as soon as possible with Dann but they will face competition from their Merseyside rivals Liverpool who are also keen on the defender.
Dann has admitted to being a Liverpool fan which will work against the Toffees but the Anfield side are not currently considering an increased bid above their £9m valuation and instead are monitoring Birmingham City’s financial situation to see if they will allow the player to leave much cheaper.
If Everton move faster than their red rivals then a move for Dann could be on the cards with the player also ready to hand in a transfer request in a bid to return to the Premiership.
