Everton to seal loan deal for striker

It is believed that Manchester United forward Federico Macheda is set for a season-long loan move to Premier League club Everton.

Macheda had been linked with a move away from Old Trafford but the Italian looked set to stay at United as boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed he was not looking to let any forwards leave the club.

However the Red Devils have Javier Hernandez and Michael Owen back to full fitness, whilst Dimitar Berbatov is staying at the club. They have also been boosted by the impressive start by youngster Danny Welback, who suffered a hamstring injury in their thumping of Arsenal at the weekend.

This has left Macheda’s first team football opportunities looking slim. The Italian was sent out on loan to Serie A club Sampdoria in the second half of last season, however his agent Giovanni has ruled out the chance of him moving back to his native country this summer.
