Everton youngster may be sold to finance two new purchases

Jack Rodwell may be sold on to create some cash for EvertonEverton FC may consider the sale of midfield youngster Jack Rodwell so they can make bids for Reading striker Shane Long and Wigan midfielder Charles N’Zogbia.

Rodwell has impressed the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea over the last twelve months and with no cash forthcoming for Moyes unless he sells, Everton could end up with very much the same squad as in the previous campaign. Everton are certainly keen on Wigan’s N’Zogbia but they will have to act fast if they wish to beat Aston Villa who are still negotiating the price.

It is believed £10m should be enough to secure N’Zogbia whilst Reading striker Long is available for anything around the £7m mark. Should Everton decide to part with young Rodwell then there will be an element of risk. Rodwell certainly has great potential but should they sell him now and only receive £15m, the will surely be pulling their hair hour when you think his value, in today’s crazy market, could go close to £25m-£30m.

Wigan may be in a position to allow N’Zogbia to leave for a swap deal though which would probably mean Yakubu going the other way whilst Long could be part of a more long term strategy with Everton loaning the Championship side with some of their up and coming youngsters.
