Ex-Manchester United midfielder keen to shock on Premier League return

Owen Hargreaves claims that he will ‘blow people away’ with his apparently newfound fitness.

The midfielder has been associated with a move to West Bromwich Albion after being released from Manchester United at the beginning of the summer.

The 30 year-old was restricted to just four Premier League appearances in three years at Old Trafford, but claims he can prove critics wrong if he accepts the contract offered to him by West Brom.

Commenting on his fitness, the former England international said: “My body feels great and my knees are perfect. I’ve just got this huge chip on my shoulder because I’ve been out for three years and people think I’m dead and buried.”

Hargreaves already has 42 caps for England and is ready to add to that tally, noting: “Right now, I’d like to think I can play 40 games this season and with the right care I believe I can train every day. I hope to be back in the England side for the European Championship next summer. You have to have ambition.”
