Fabregas on verge of Barcelona transfer

Arsenal skipper, Cesc Fabregas, looks set to end a transfer saga lasting almost tow years, by completing a dream move back to Barcelona.

The midfielder began his career as a trainee with last year’s double champions, and has been linked with the Catalan club for the past five transfer windows.

The deal is thought to be worth a £25.5m cash payment, with around £5.5m being paid in the future based on the trophies he helps win for the La Liga champions.

Fabregas will also forgo about £4.5m of owed payment from the north London club, paid in £900,000 payments over the next five years, bringing the total to above the £35m asking price.

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, was set to name the 24 year-old in Tuesday’s Champions League qualifier against Udinese, meaning he could play no part in Barcelona’s European campaign this season should any transfer come to fruition in the near-future.

The deal could be finished by this weekend and could also open the door for Samir Nasri’s departure, who was depending on his captain to stay for him to do the same.
