Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has played down reports that he will leave the Spanish club to join either Chelsea or Manchester City. The Colombian international was heavily linked with a move to England for much of the summer with speculation intensifying after he scored a hat-trick against the Blues in the Super Cup two weeks ago. Premier League champions City are also interested in acquiring Falcao’s services with his father, Radamel snr, going as far to claim that the 26-year-old was prepared to leave Atletico only for the player himself to dismiss any talk that he wants to leave the Estadio Vincente Calderon. talkSPORT
Russian giants unable to meet Nani demands – Zenit St Petersburg claim Nani’s wage demands prevented his move to Petrovsky Stadium during the transfer window. The Russian Premier League champions spent heavily during the summer to sign Hulk from Porto and Axel Witsel from Benfica and had targeted the Portugal winger after his future at Manchester United was brought into question. Talks over a new deal at Old Trafford had stalled and the 25-year-old looked certain to sign for Zenit only for discussions to break down with the club unwilling to match his conditions. Spurs failed with Negredo bid – Sevilla have revealed they rejected a £20 million bid from Tottenham for striker Alvaro Negredo on deadline day. The 27-year-old has been on Spurs radar for the last 18-months and Andre Villas-Boas made a last ditch bid to bring him to White Hart Lane on what proved to be a frantic final day of the transfer window for the new Spurs boss. Internacional also turned down a £17m approach from the North London club for Brazilian frontman Leandro Damiao whilst its also been revealed that Lyon forward Bafetembi Gomis was on Villas-Boas’ hitlist. Juve still holding Llorente hope – Juventus are still hopeful of signing Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente after they failed to sign Robin Van Persie during the summer. The Italian champions were heavily linked with the Spain international and chief executive Giuseppe Marotta says the club will reignite their efforts to bring him to Turin in the January transfer window. Llorente is into the final year of his contract at the San Mames and Bilbao are likely to sell him in the New Year rather than lose him for nothing.
